Ken Newby, CSP, CRSP, ARM, CRM
Ken Newby started his career in safety over 16 years ago working as the corporate safety of a mid-sized pre-cast concrete manufacturer. He continued performing corporate safety functions for mid and large sized construction companies with specialties in Civil and Infrastructure, Residential, and Commercial High Rise.
Ken also performed several years of insurance safety, with a focus on high risk accounts.
In 2000, Ken took an assignment as the lead site safety for the construction of the Seahawks Stadium in Seattle (now Quest Field). Upon finishing this project, he performed regional site safety for airport security upgrades under the United States Transportation Security Agency. Having a 10 state region with 99 airports, this provided for fast paced construction methods resulting in a 6 month completion date.
Upon completion of this project, Ken performed site safety on three additional projects before moving to Alberta. The new 911 integrated call center for Washington State, Boeing 737/757 assembly line engineering offices, and Zymogenetics Laboratory Facility.
Since in Alberta, Ken has been on several industrial, powerplant, pipeline and pulp/paper sites including Petro-Canada Strathcona, Imperial Oil/Esso Cold Lake, Dow Fort Saskatchewan, Genessee, Weldwood, and Access Pipeline in Lac La Biche.
Ken has also obtained his CSP, CRSP, ARM, and CRM. He volunteers with the CSSE Edmonton chapter as a member of the sub-committee for training. He is a supporter of safety education and of the further development of safety skills.
